Bowls, sunshine, live music and a serious cause underneath it all — Bowl for our Kids brought the community together at Club Tweed to raise funds for paediatric equipment at Tweed Valley Hospital.
“Today has been amazing,” said Rebekka Battista, fundraising coordinator at Our Kids, between ends on the green. “I’m a bit of a rookie, so I learned how to play bowls today — lots of hilarious moments and such a great day.”
Behind the fun is a partnership with real weight. “A big thank you to Tweed Community Clubs for all their generosity towards Our Kids,” Rebekka said. “These last couple of years they have invested close to $80,000 worth of equipment at Tweed Valley Hospital in our paediatric areas — from a resuscitator in accident and emergency to bili blankets that help jaundiced babies in the special care nursery.”
“So thank you on behalf of all the families — not just the ones who are sick today, but our families who will have sick ones in the future.”
Every roll of the bowl helps keep sick kids close to home for treatment. If you’d like to help, you can donate or contact Our Kids today.
