Tweed Community Clubs: Our first year!

Tweed District Rescue

For over 20 years, Tweed District Rescue Squad has been there for our community, responding to emergencies and saving lives.

The squad provides primary response rescue services to the Tweed Area, including road crash rescue, vertical rescue, and land search and rescue.

One recent rescue involved helping a man after a serious crash. Thanks to the squad’s efforts, he made a full recovery, just as his family welcomed a new baby.

At Tweed Community Clubs, we are dedicated to backing local organisations like the Tweed Rescue Squad.

Led by Captain Drew Carr, the squad is always looking for volunteers to join their rescue family, both on and off the field.

Let’s support this life-saving work together!

Pottsville Football Club

Pottsville Beach Football Club has experienced an amazing year of growth, expanding from 363 to 507 members in just one season. The success of the Matildas has sparked new excitement for soccer across the country, and this enthusiasm is clearly reflected in the community, especially among women and girls eager to join the sport. It’s inspiring to witness this passion, but with growth comes new challenges.

The current sports grounds are working overtime. With only two fields to accommodate over 50 teams, space is tight. From Friday night to Sunday evening, the fields are buzzing with activity, leaving little room for everyone to train and play comfortably. The club is working on expanding to other grounds, but additional facilities—such as dedicated women’s change rooms—are needed to make these new areas ready for use. For now, the club is making do, but they know they can do better for their members.

Thanks to a generous $5,000 donation from Pottsville Beach Sports Club, the girls’ teams are getting new gear and uniforms, which is a fantastic step forward. However, more community support is needed to match the growing needs of the club. Alongside better facilities, they need more hands-on help—coaches, volunteers to line fields, and people willing to assist with the day-to-day coordination that keeps everything running smoothly. Volunteers are the heart of the club, and they are always looking for more people to help make the soccer experience the best it can be for everyone involved.

Tweed Community Clubs, specifically Pottsville Beach Sports Club, are supporting local clubs like Pottsville Beach FC to grow and thrive. Together we’re making a real difference in the community, creating opportunities for everyone to enjoy the sport and stay connected. Those who are passionate about local sport or want to lend a hand are encouraged to get involved—there’s never been a better time.

Freds Community Sleepout

Last Friday, we gathered for the Fred’s Place Vinnies Community Sleepout at Seagulls Club to raise funds and awareness for homelessness in our community. Fred’s Place is a lifeline for over 130 people every morning in the Tweed Shire, providing crucial support and services to those in need. With one of the highest rates of homelessness in NSW, the Tweed community relies on this vital service.

This yearly event ensures that Fred’s Place continues to be the only full-service drop-in centre for the homeless in the Tweed, offering a safe space, meals, and support. Tweed Community Clubs is proud to contribute to this cause, not only by donating to maintain these essential services but also by providing thousands of frozen meals each year through Our Lady of the Rosary Outreach’s “Lunch with Friends” program.

A big thank you to everyone who joined the sleepout and supported this important cause. Your participation makes a real difference, helping Fred’s Place continue their mission to support those who need it most.

Together, we’re making a real difference.
